P.M.O.H. Photobook Award - Open Call

The PhMuseum Photobook Award is a biennial initiative designed to promote and support the field of photography publishing. With the launch of its first edition, the award seeks to identify one outstanding photographic project to be developed into a photobook. The selected work will be published by PhMuseum, which will oversee and fully finance the production and global distribution of the book. A minimum of 500 copies will be printed, ensuring the project reaches a broad audience. As part of the publishing agreement, the author will receive 50 physical copies of the book and 5% of the royalties generated from its sales.

This first edition of the award is made possible in collaboration with MPB, a leading name in the resale of photographic and video equipment in Europe. MPB will also contribute a Special Mention to the award process. Together with PhMuseum, they will select an additional photographer to receive a dedicated distinction, which includes a voucher worth €800. This can be used toward purchasing second-hand photographic or video gear from MPB’s inventory.

The winner of the main award will be publicly announced during Photobook Mania 2025, an event scheduled to take place on the 18th and 19th of October in Bologna, Italy. Once selected, the winning project will be guided through editing, design, and production under the artistic direction of Giuseppe Oliverio and visual editor Camilla Marrese. The final book will be printed and ready by the summer of 2026 and will be officially launched at the PhMuseum Days 2026 International Photography Festival, also held in Bologna.

The award welcomes projects of all styles and themes—there is no specific topic or approach required. Both ongoing works and completed series are eligible, as long as they have not yet been published in book format. If available, applicants are encouraged to submit a PDF book dummy or a video presentation of their concept. Co-publishing arrangements may be discussed on an individual basis where appropriate. Thank you for your interest, and we wish all applicants the very best in this exciting opportunity.
