Out From The Mist seeks to present a comprehensive and empathetic view of mental health by showcasing stories that span a broad emotional and experiential range. This includes the darker realities of mental health struggles—such as pain, confusion, and emotional hardship—as well as the brighter moments of care, resilience, and personal achievement.

The competition is open to submissions in the form of visual art, sound design, film, dance, and other expressive media. It invites the perspectives of individuals living with mental health conditions, as well as those who provide them with care, support, and understanding.

Regardless of tone—whether a piece is uplifting or somber, daring or subtly impactful—each entry contributes meaningfully to a shared conversation. These stories help build a more nuanced and compassionate understanding of mental health challenges, and of the strength it takes to live, heal, and create in their midst.
