Photographers around the globe are invited to participate in the latest call for entry from the New York Center for Photographic Art (NYC4PA). We’re seeking creative and thought-provoking photographic work that interprets the theme of “Reflections” in all its visual and symbolic possibilities. All photographic processes are welcome—whether you work with black and white film, print transfers, digital manipulation, encaustic techniques, or more experimental approaches.
Winners will receive $4,000 in total cash awards. In addition, selected artists will be featured in the NYC4PA Online Gallery, and their work will appear in our annual winners catalog, distributed worldwide. The Grand Prize-winning photograph will receive top honors by being showcased on the home page of the NYC4PA website.
Reflections have always captured the human imagination. There is something inherently magical in seeing a mirrored image—especially the very first time a child recognizes their reflection and realizes it mimics them. That initial reaction—pure amusement, curiosity, and wonder—is just the start. Over time, our understanding of reflection evolves. It becomes more than just a visual trick—it turns into a metaphor, a compositional tool, a way to see the world from new angles.
In this call, we’re seeking images that engage with the idea of reflection—literally, artistically, or emotionally. Show us a crisp mirror image or a hazy suggestion in the sheen of a rain-soaked street. From urban scenes mirrored in glass and water, to a subtle glint of light off a metal railing, to playful sunbeams creating visual echoes in unexpected places—reflections are everywhere, and each one tells a different story.
You can submit works that feature a subject alongside its reflection, or pieces that focus solely on the reflected image. Whether distorted by movement, bent by a curved surface, or blurred through filters of water or oil, reflections offer endless room for exploration.
As always, this call is open to all 2D photography. We invite you to look again—and share what you see reflected back.
