The first photographs that entered the art world were monochrome prints, crafted through large format cameras, developed into negatives, and carefully printed in darkrooms. Photography has evolved tremendously since then—color is now the default in much of what we capture, and cameras fit conveniently into our phones. Yet, amid a sea of color images, monochrome prints—whether black and white, sepia, or in subtle single-color tones—hold a unique charm. These prints capture emotion, texture, and beauty in nuanced shades of light and shadow. Whether your original shot was taken on tri-x film, a digital SLR, or a smartphone, if the final result is a striking monochrome, it perfectly meets this call.
