In a world increasingly focused on the new, the polished, and the flawless, there is something profoundly compelling about subjects shaped by time and exposure. Rust, corrosion, decay, and weathering create visual qualities that are impossible to manufacture. As materials age and deteriorate, they develop unique patterns, textures, and colors that often become more interesting and expressive than their original appearance.
This exhibition seeks photographic work that explores the many forms of decay and transformation found in both natural and human-made environments. We encourage photographers to look beyond the obvious and discover beauty in places where time has altered the landscape. From rusted automobiles and abandoned factories to peeling paint, cracked plaster, deteriorating walls, weathered doors, broken windows, and corroded industrial machinery, opportunities for creative interpretation are everywhere.
Junkyards, forgotten neighborhoods, abandoned buildings, and overlooked urban spaces provide endless possibilities for visual exploration. Objects that have been discarded, neglected, or left behind often become powerful subjects. Rusted vehicles, worn playground equipment, aging household items, collapsing structures, and other remnants of everyday life can reveal surprising beauty when viewed through a photographic lens. The contrast between past purpose and present condition often creates images rich with atmosphere, history, and emotion.
We invite submissions that examine decay, corrosion, rust, erosion, weathering, and the effects of time from any perspective. Whether your approach is documentary, abstract, conceptual, architectural, or purely aesthetic, we welcome images that celebrate the visual complexity of these subjects. Black-and-white photography, color photography, mixed media, alternative photographic processes, and all forms of photographic expression are eligible. Show us how age, exposure, and neglect can transform ordinary scenes into extraordinary works of photographic art.
