To celebrate five decades of incredible microscopic imagery, Nikon is now accepting entries for the 2025 Small World competitions.

As a premier platform for microscopic photography, Nikon’s Small World highlights the intricate beauty and complexity of life seen through the lens of a light microscope. Open to all enthusiasts, the Photomicrography Competition welcomes submissions from those passionate about microscopy and photography, while the Small World In Motion category celebrates videos and time-lapse imagery taken through microscopes.

The top 20 winners will be awarded prizes, with the first three prizes set at $3,000, $2,000, and $1,000, respectively.

Nikon’s Small World is a truly global competition, with past entries spanning continents, including North and South America, Europe, Asia, Australia, and Africa. Since its start in 1975, the Small World Competition has been an esteemed platform for showcasing the skill and creativity of photomicrographers worldwide.
