Welcome to the Natural Landscape Photography Awards (NLPA), a global competition dedicated to celebrating the beauty, power, and diversity of landscapes and nature photography. The awards were created with a clear mission: to discover and showcase the most outstanding images of the natural world produced by photographers from across the globe.
NLPA welcomes both digital and film photographers who share a commitment to authenticity and realism in their images. Participants are encouraged to present photographs that remain true to the natural scene, with editing techniques used carefully to preserve the integrity of the original moment. For this reason, the competition includes a number of specific guidelines regarding image editing. While these rules may be more detailed than those found in many other contests, they are designed to ensure that the final selection of images represents not only artistic excellence but also the genuine beauty and wonder of the landscapes being photographed.
Submissions open every year on April 15th and remain open until May 31st, inviting photographers from around the world to share their most powerful landscape and nature images. The awards include a wide variety of categories that reflect the many creative directions contemporary landscape photography can take. Photographers may submit images ranging from vast and dramatic scenic landscapes to more intimate studies of nature and abstract interpretations of the environment.
The competition features a grand prize of US $5,000, along with numerous additional prizes awarded to category winners and runners-up. Each year, the NLPA receives over 10,000 entries from photographers around the world, making it one of the largest landscape photography competitions internationally. The quality of the winning images is consistently extraordinary, and many of the best photographs are published in beautifully produced fine-art books that celebrate the most remarkable images submitted to the competition.
