Since its inauguration in the year 2008, the Prix pour la Photographie du musée du quai Branly – Jacques Chirac has steadfastly committed itself to fostering the evolution of contemporary photographic art. This commitment is exemplified through the dedicated support provided to three artists annually, whose exceptional works ultimately find a permanent place within the esteemed museum's collection.

Established with the vision of promoting diversity and inclusivity, the award specifically targets non-European photographic artists, as well as European citizens residing in overseas countries and territories, along with those in the outermost regions. The laureates selected for this prestigious accolade are each granted a substantial sum of 30,000 € (euros) net, intended to facilitate the realization of their submitted projects.
