Marking its inception in 2008, the Prix pour la Photographie du musée du quai Branly – Jacques Chirac has stood as a vanguard in the promotion and advancement of contemporary photographic art. This enduring commitment unfolds annually as the award lends its steadfast support to three artists, ensuring that their exceptional works seamlessly integrate into the esteemed collection of the museum.

An embodiment of inclusivity and global engagement, the award is crafted to benefit non-European photographic artists, as well as European citizens residing in overseas countries and territories, including those in the outermost regions. Each laureate, recognized for their outstanding contributions, is bestowed with a grant of 30,000 € (euros) net, providing a vital financial boost to bring their submitted projects to fruition.
