The call for entries is now open for the 2025 KBr Photo Award, running from June 1 to September 1, 2025. This marks the third edition of the international photography prize, which is organized every two years by the Fundación MAPFRE. The award is specifically designed to recognize mid-career or established photographers whose unpublished projects reflect exceptional artistic merit and documentary depth.

The focus of the KBr Photo Award lies in honoring those photographers who continue to explore new creative ground within the realm of documentary photography, offering critical reflections on the world around us. By awarding unpublished work, the Foundation supports the creation and dissemination of projects that might otherwise remain unseen.

The selected photographer will receive a monetary grant to support the development or finalization of their project. Furthermore, the award includes a full exhibition of the winning work in the Foundation’s Barcelona (KBr) and Madrid galleries—two leading venues dedicated to contemporary photography. To complement and preserve the project, a catalog publication will also be produced, distributed as part of the Foundation’s broader commitment to photographic excellence.
