Attention women and nonbinary photographers under 30: The Magnum Foundation is now accepting applications for the Inge Morath Award! This grant is designed to support the completion of long-term documentary projects.
Inge Morath, an Austrian-born photographer, was an integral part of Magnum Photos for nearly half a century. After her passing in 2002, the Inge Morath Foundation was created to oversee her estate and promote the study of her work. With the foundation’s closure in 2014, her archive was entrusted to Yale University’s Beinecke Library, and her master prints were acquired by the Yale University Art Gallery.
Recognizing Morath’s passion for supporting women in photography, Magnum Photos established the Inge Morath Award in her honor. Now managed by the Magnum Foundation, the award continues to celebrate and elevate diverse voices in documentary photography, working alongside the Inge Morath Estate.
