The Magnum Foundation is now accepting applications for the Inge Morath Award, a grant supporting women and nonbinary photographers under 30 in completing long-term documentary projects.

Inge Morath, an Austrian-born photographer, was a key member of Magnum Photos for nearly five decades. After her passing in 2002, the Inge Morath Foundation was created to preserve her legacy. Following its closure in 2014, her archive was acquired by Yale University’s Beinecke Library, with a selection of her master prints housed at the Yale University Art Gallery for scholarly access.

To honor Morath’s dedication to mentoring women photographers, her Magnum colleagues established the Inge Morath Award. Now administered by the Magnum Foundation, the award furthers its commitment to fostering diversity and creativity in documentary photography in collaboration with the Inge Morath Estate.
