The Le Stanze della Fotografia Foundation, in partnership with the Association for the Heritage of the Prosecco Hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, presents a new project centered on the relationship between cultural heritage and visual storytelling. As part of the initiative, a free competition has been established to invite photographers, filmmakers, students, creatives, and members of the public to submit works inspired by the theme of water and its connection to landscapes, history, and cultural identity.

The project was created to highlight the value of memory, local traditions, and shared heritage while encouraging people to tell stories through images and other visual media. Open to participants of all experience levels, the competition offers a space where personal experiences, artistic perspectives, and documentary approaches can come together to celebrate the significance of water in everyday life and across generations.

Although rooted in the UNESCO-listed Prosecco Hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, the initiative adopts an international outlook by inviting entries connected to UNESCO World Heritage Sites throughout Italy and across the globe. In doing so, the project aims to create a dialogue between different places and cultures, united by the common presence and influence of water.

The inaugural edition explores water in all of its dimensions, from its physical presence in rivers, streams, lakes, vineyards, and natural ecosystems to its symbolic role in culture, art, history, and collective memory. Through photography, video, and visual storytelling, participants are encouraged to reflect on how water connects communities, supports biodiversity and agriculture, inspires artistic expression, and serves as a powerful narrative thread linking people and places around the world.
