The Los Angeles Times invites aspiring journalists to join our renowned newsroom for a 10-week paid internship program that provides rigorous, hands-on training. This is an opportunity to collaborate with some of the industry’s top journalists and contribute directly to one of the nation’s leading news organizations. Based in Los Angeles—a city where national and international stories intersect daily—you’ll develop essential reporting, writing, and multimedia skills while working on stories that matter.
Our interns are placed in a variety of departments across the newsroom, allowing you to pursue your interests and develop new skills. Opportunities are available in Metro/Local, Politics, Sports, Business, and Foreign/National reporting. Feature-minded interns may explore Lifestyle areas including fashion, food, travel, home design, and plants, while those with an eye for culture can contribute to Entertainment and Arts. Editorial opportunities also exist with Op-Ed, De Los, and Image, our in-house fashion magazine. Visual and digital storytelling roles are available in Photography, Video, Data and Graphics, Design, Audience Engagement, and Multiplatform Editing, which includes a placement secured through the Dow Jones News Fund’s competitive national process (deadline: November 14).
Internships are fully paid. Our summer 2026 program begins on May 26 and June 22. In addition, we offer spring internships specifically for students attending colleges in Southern California. We do not offer internships during the fall semester.
