JLL Foundation - Foundation's Photography Grant 2026

Established in 1990, the Jean-Luc Lagardère Foundation Grants aim to support the next generation of media and culture professionals. Among these grants, the Photographer Grant stands out as a critical opportunity for emerging talent. Every year, a French-speaking photographer under the age of 35 is awarded a 10,000-euro grant to realize an original and forward-thinking documentary photography project. The selection process is overseen by a jury composed of distinguished experts in photography and media, ensuring that recipients exemplify both technical skill and artistic vision.

The grant offers recipients not merely financial assistance but also serves as a vital launching pad for their professional trajectories. Candidates must demonstrate photography as their principal activity and have completed at least two published documentary projects, whether in print or online media, in the form of periodicals, books, or exhibition catalogs.

Previous laureates of the Jean-Luc Lagardère Foundation Photographer Grant include figures such as Sarah Caron (2000), Samuel Bollendorff (2001), Agnès Dherbeys (2005), Véronique de Viguerie (2006), Stéphanie Lacombe (2006), William Daniels (2007), and Elena Chernyshova (2011). Anna Filipova was awarded the grant in 2016 for her impactful photo reportage on Greenland, highlighting the profound socio-environmental implications of mining activities on local communities.

The Jean-Luc Lagardère Foundation’s vision, combined with its robust financial backing, provides essential support and acknowledgment for the documentary photography profession, playing a crucial role in fostering the careers of talented new voices.
