MIA Photo Fair - 5th Edition Irinox Save The Food Award

Honoring food as nourishment for thought, culture, and the human spiritCurated by Claudio Composti

Within the framework of MIA Photo Fair, BNP Paribas proudly continues a meaningful cultural partnership with the fifth edition of the IRINOX SAVE THE FOOD Award. Brought to life with the support of Irinox S.p.A. – Società Benefit, a pioneering company known for its advanced blast-chilling and preservation technologies, the Award reflects a longstanding dedication to ecological responsibility and to reducing the global issue of food waste.

Established to celebrate the artists who illuminate the deeper significance of food, the Award invites creators working across photography, video, and experimental visual forms to explore food’s role as a symbol that bridges personal memory, collective identity, and social structure. Through images, artists are encouraged to question how food shapes how we live, connect, celebrate, and understand one another.

Open to artists worldwide, regardless of age, discipline, or background, the Award looks beyond aesthetics and technique. Its purpose is to foster a rich cultural conversation on the place of art in today’s world and to consider how food—present in every life yet interpreted differently across cultures—can become a powerful lens through which to understand contemporary reality.

With its new thematic orientation, Feeding the Image, the Award invites an interpretation of nourishment that transcends the physical. Here, food becomes a metaphor for the nourishment of ideas, of cultural heritage, and of the inner life of the spirit. It affirms the belief that art, much like food, sustains us—shaping our perceptions, expanding our understanding, and enriching our shared humanity.
