What makes a great landscape photograph? Is it technical perfection, artistic vision, the perfect moment—or simply an image that stays with you long after you have seen it? In reality, photography competitions are influenced by all of these things, as well as the personal preferences of the judges. When thousands of exceptional photographers enter, being selected as one of the very best requires both skill and a distinctive creative voice.
Rather than focusing exclusively on a handful of winners, the International Landscape Photographer of the Year takes a broader approach by celebrating the Top 101 landscape photographs of the year. This allows the competition to recognize a much wider variety of photographic styles, ideas, techniques, and interpretations of the landscape.
We want to see what landscape photography means to you. Your entry might be a breathtaking single exposure captured at exactly the right moment, a quiet and atmospheric scene, an unusual perspective, or an ambitious composite that transforms reality into something unexpected. We do not believe photographers should be restricted to a narrow definition of what a landscape photograph should look like. If it is photography, we want to see it.
Now in its thirteenth edition, the International Landscape Photographer of the Year Awards invites photographers from around the world to submit their strongest work. The ultimate goal is to have one or more of your photographs selected for the Top 101 landscape photographs of the year.
Being included in the Top 101 means your work can become part of the competition's exclusive annual book, bringing together a diverse collection of outstanding landscape photography from around the world. The book is published online and is also available as a high-quality hard-cover print edition.
There is also US$12,500 in total prizes, including cash awards, trophies, and printed copies of the book for major prize winners.
