Getty Images Creative Grant - Disability in Focus: Navigating Work Life

Getty Images is dedicated to advancing the impact of visual storytelling. Since the establishment of the Getty Images Grants program in 2004, the organization has awarded over $2.6 million to photojournalists and creative photographers, underscoring its commitment to photography and ensuring that significant stories reach a global audience.

As the role of imagery in shaping societal perceptions grows, Getty Images remains steadfast in its support for creatives who bring essential narratives to light. According to Getty Images’ VisualGPS research, 67% of Americans believe diverse representation in media fosters greater understanding. However, research also shows that 75% of images depicting individuals with disabilities are set in healthcare environments, rather than in workplaces or homes.

In alignment with its mission, Getty Images is collaborating with Verizon and the National Disability Leadership Alliance (NDLA) to foster diversity in commercial photography and videography. Through the Disability in Focus: Navigating Work Life Creative Grant, the company provides financial assistance and mentorship to artists dedicated to portraying individuals with disabilities in an authentic and empowering manner, particularly in professional settings.
