FOTOGRAFICA, the Bergamo Photography Festival, proudly announces the launch of FOTOGRAFICA NEXT, an exciting new Open Call specifically dedicated to young creatives under the age of 30. This initiative seeks to highlight and reward fresh talent in two forward-thinking categories: Traditional Photography and AI Photography, which includes projects developed entirely or in part using generative artificial intelligence tools.
The theme chosen for this year’s edition is both timely and evocative: “As Brave As We Can.” All submitted works must reflect and interpret this theme, which delves into the evolving notion of courage—not as a fixed trait, but as a process shaped by experience, vulnerability, and persistence. This call for bravery includes acts of honesty, transformation, vulnerability, and daring to step into the unknown. Whether found in private moments or life-altering decisions, courage can manifest in everyday interactions or grand gestures that redefine our paths in a rapidly changing world.
The Open Call is more than a contest—it is a platform designed to elevate the voices of emerging artists who are forging new visual languages and interpreting the present through unique lenses. FOTOGRAFICA NEXT aims to create a space for growth, learning, and professional exchange by offering selected participants tangible opportunities for exhibition, recognition, and mentorship.
This initiative is made possible through a partnership with Fondazione Alfaparf, the philanthropic arm of Alfaparf Milano Group, a foundation committed to empowering younger generations. Through this collaboration, FOTOGRAFICA NEXT champions the role of artistic expression—particularly photography—as a catalyst for personal and collective development.
