The World Report Award | Documenting Humanity was created to encourage a deeper and more conscious form of social participation through photography. Open to photographers of all backgrounds and experience levels worldwide, the award focuses on visual narratives that place people at the center — their lives, struggles, cultures, and relationships. Submissions may range from public stories to private reflections, from seemingly minor moments to historically significant events, from large-scale human tragedies to the intimacy of everyday life and personal human bonds. The award also actively welcomes projects that address environmental concerns, wildlife protection, and solution-driven photojournalism that proposes new ways of understanding and responding to global challenges.
Year after year, the contest offers a wide-ranging and powerful overview of contemporary documentary and photojournalistic practice, celebrating excellence, authenticity, and ethical responsibility. The World Report Award | Documenting Humanity goes beyond the idea of a traditional competition: while it provides financial recognition to support photographers working in demanding and often underrepresented fields, it also opens the door to a long-standing international network. This community, developed over more than fifteen years, is made up of professionals who continue to collaborate, exchange ideas, and actively engage with the organization’s mission.
The award is promoted by the Festival of Ethical Photography, founded in 2010 with the intention of highlighting ethically relevant content and making social issues more accessible to a broader public. Guided by the conviction that photography has the power to expose injustice and stimulate awareness, the Festival investigates the intersections between ethics, communication, and photography through a dynamic and inclusive platform.
