Eurordis - Photography Award 2026

The EURORDIS Photo Award offers a powerful opportunity for individuals to visually share what it means to live with a rare disease. Every photograph submitted becomes more than an image—it becomes a story, a voice, and a bridge that connects people living with rare conditions to the broader community. Through your lens, others can discover the resilience, challenges, joy, and depth that shape life with a rare disease.

This contest is open to participants from all countries and across every rare disease area. Over the years, thousands of remarkable photographs have been submitted, each one reflecting courage, creativity, and the unshakable spirit of individuals and families affected by rare conditions. These images help raise awareness and strengthen understanding, reminding the world that every rare disease journey is unique yet deeply human.

Because your stories and the people in them matter, we must ensure that all individuals featured in your photograph have given their informed consent. To submit an image, you must be at least 18 years old. You are also responsible for obtaining permission from all people featured in the photograph who are 14 years of age or older, as well as from the parents or legal guardians of any minors under the age of 18. In addition, you must confirm that you have the approval of both the photographer and any person who holds the Intellectual Property Rights for the photo.

At the end of the submission form, you will be asked to confirm that you have fully read and understood our Terms, Conditions, and Intellectual Property Rights as well as our Personal Data Consent Document. You will then provide a virtual signature confirming that consent has been obtained from all relevant parties.

From all entries, five finalists will be selected by internationally respected, award-winning photographer Marcus Bleasdale, whose work has long highlighted human stories through compelling visual narratives.

Beginning 9 February 2026, an online public vote will open to determine the final ranking of the five selected photographs. The winners will be officially announced during the prestigious EURORDIS Black Pearl Awards ceremony on 24 February 2026. The three finalists who receive the most votes will each be awarded a prize. For detailed information about important dates and prize descriptions, please consult our Procedures Document.
