Decode Gallery - Square Photography Contest and Exhibition

Calling all photographers! Decode Gallery invites you to be part of a unique juried photography exhibition celebrating the square format—a powerful compositional tool that invites balance, symmetry, and a fresh perspective on any subject. No matter your genre or artistic approach—portrait, landscape, street, documentary, architectural, or experimental—we want to see how you express your creativity within the confines of a square.

The square crop asks photographers to reframe how they see the world. It strips away distraction and challenges you to focus your eye in new ways. We’re seeking images that fully embrace the creative potential of this timeless shape.

From the submissions, 12 standout photographs will be chosen by our juror for display at Decode Gallery. As always, we take pride in presenting your work professionally. Selected images will be printed at no cost to the artists, using Epson printers and Ilford Pearl paper, which ensures beautiful detail and long-lasting quality. One framed exhibition print will be made per artist, and after the show, it will be carefully archived in our flat files for six months.

Our exhibitions are installed with museum-quality 14”x14” frames, each fitted with a 7”x7” mat opening—providing a focused and refined presentation that highlights your vision.

Artists can choose to make their print available for sale during the exhibition. If a potential buyer expresses interest, we will notify the photographer immediately. All image and print rights remain entirely with the artist. Any sale made is split evenly: 50% to the photographer, 50% to Decode Gallery.

Accepted artists will be informed via email within two weeks of the submission deadline. We’re excited to see how you transform the square into something bold, thoughtful, and unforgettable.
