At Decode Gallery, we are thrilled to announce an open call for photography that explores the aesthetic and compositional possibilities of the square format. This shape, known for its symmetry and balance, challenges photographers to think differently and reframe their approach to composition. We welcome entries in any photographic genre—portraiture, landscape, architecture, documentary, or conceptual—provided they are rendered in a square format. This is an opportunity to showcase how this classic and striking frame can elevate a visual narrative.

A juror will select 12 outstanding works to be included in a group exhibition at our Tucson-based gallery. For each selected photograph, Decode Gallery will professionally produce a high-quality print at no expense to the artist, using our in-house Epson printing system with Ilford Pearl paper, known for its exquisite finish and archival quality. Only one exhibition print will be made for each work, and all prints will be archived for six months after the show.

We exhibit all selected works in 14” x 14” custom gallery frames, matted to a 7” x 7” display area, emphasizing both precision and presentation to honor the artist’s vision.

Artists have the option to list their print for sale. If a buyer expresses interest, the photographer will be contacted immediately to discuss next steps. Decode Gallery takes a 50% commission on sales, with the remaining 50% going directly to the photographer. Ownership and rights to the image and digital file remain entirely with the artist.
