The American Southwest offers an extraordinary wealth of photographic inspiration, from vast desert horizons and striking natural formations to centuries-old traditions and the diverse communities that call the region home. Photographers are invited to submit their images to this juried exhibition at Decode Gallery, an opportunity to present their interpretations of the landscapes, cultures, and experiences that define this distinctive part of the United States. Submissions may explore any aspect of the region, including its natural environments, architectural heritage, local traditions, contemporary life, or the people who shape its identity. All photographs must have been taken in California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Arizona, or New Mexico.
The exhibition will bring together at least 26 selected photographs, chosen by the juror for their individual perspectives and artistic interpretations of the Southwest. Every accepted photographer will receive complimentary professional printing services from Decode Gallery. Images will be produced using an Epson professional printer and Ilford Pearl paper, with careful attention to quality and presentation. The gallery will create a single exhibition print of each selected photograph. Once the exhibition concludes, the prints will be preserved in a flat file archive for a period of two years.
Each photograph will be presented in a museum-quality white frame measuring 22 × 22 inches. A variety of precut white mats will be available, including 11 × 11, 10 × 15, 11 × 15, and 12 × 15 inches, as well as additional sizes. To ensure that every image is displayed to its best advantage, Decode Gallery will adjust the dimensions of the submitted high-resolution digital files according to the chosen mat and frame. These adjustments will preserve the entire composition, as photographs will never be cropped.
Artists who wish to offer their exhibition prints for sale may indicate this preference when submitting their work. Should a prospective buyer inquire about purchasing a print, the gallery will promptly contact the photographer. All intellectual property rights and ownership of the image files and prints remain with the respective photographers. For sales facilitated through the gallery, the proceeds are divided equally, with 50% going to Decode Gallery and 50% to the artist.
