Summer occupies a unique place in our collective imagination. It is a season associated with freedom, possibility, and the illusion that time moves a little more slowly. For this open call, we invite photographers to submit work that explores the visual and emotional language of summer—the moments, atmospheres, and experiences that make the season unforgettable.
We are interested in photographs that evoke the feeling of endless summer. This might be found in the glow of golden hour that seems to repeat day after day, the density of warm air before a storm, sunlit landscapes, late-night gatherings, empty streets shimmering with heat, or personal moments of escape and discovery. Whether your perspective is intimate or expansive, documentary or conceptual, we encourage submissions that engage with both the physical reality and emotional resonance of the season.
Summer can mean different things to different people. For some, it is a time of connection, adventure, and celebration. For others, it is a season of solitude, stillness, memory, or transformation. We welcome diverse interpretations that challenge, expand, or redefine traditional ideas of summer while maintaining a strong visual voice and artistic intention.
Selected artists will have their work featured in a group exhibition at Decode Gallery in Tucson, Arizona. This exhibition will bring together a compelling collection of contemporary photography that reflects the many ways summer lives in our memories, imaginations, and everyday experiences.
