Decode Gallery is pleased to announce its upcoming photography exhibition, Blue, a themed open call dedicated to exploring the artistic, emotional, and visual possibilities of one of the most versatile colours in photography. Found throughout the natural world and within our everyday surroundings, blue offers photographers an extraordinary range of creative opportunities, from the deep tones of the ocean and the vastness of the sky to subtle details in architecture, portraiture, and abstract compositions.

Blue encompasses an extensive spectrum of hues, ranging from pale, delicate shades to intense, saturated tones and deep, almost-black variations. Depending on the context, it can evoke feelings of tranquillity, serenity, distance, introspection, or melancholy. It can suggest the openness of a landscape, the stillness of water, the complexity of human emotions, or the mysterious qualities of an abstract image. Through light, colour, composition, and atmosphere, photographers can explore the many interpretations and associations that this colour inspires.

For this exhibition, Decode Gallery invites photographers to submit work that places blue at the centre of the visual experience. Submissions may include landscapes, seascapes, portraits, architectural photography, still lifes, abstract images, and experimental approaches. We are interested in discovering how artists use different shades and variations of blue to communicate ideas, establish moods, and create visually compelling photographs.
