Decagon Gallery - "Forgotten Architecture" International Juried Photography Call for Entry

Decagon Gallery is pleased to announce a juried exhibition centered on the evocative theme of abandoned and neglected architecture. These structures, often dismissed as remnants of the past, are in fact extraordinary markers of history and culture. Their surfaces—worn wood, chipped plaster, rusted metal—tell visual stories about human presence, labor, and eventual departure. They offer not only a record of material decline, but also a powerful metaphor for memory, transience, and transformation.

This exhibition invites photographers to engage deeply with the subject of abandoned buildings and forgotten spaces. We welcome a broad range of approaches: from straightforward documentary photography that captures architectural decay with precision and honesty, to interpretive or conceptual projects that reimagine these spaces as symbols of change, loss, or resilience. Submissions might feature urban exploration, landscapes where nature reclaims what humanity has left behind, or carefully composed studies that highlight the sculptural qualities of neglect. By bringing together diverse visual perspectives, Decagon Gallery seeks to create a dialogue about the aesthetic and cultural significance of abandoned structures and the enduring fascination they hold in the contemporary imagination.
