Decagon Gallery - "Black and White" International Photography Exhibition

When an image is stripped of color, it reveals something essential. What remains is the raw language of photography itself—light and shadow in delicate balance, lines that guide the eye, forms that create structure, tones that breathe atmosphere, and textures that invite touch. In black and white, the distractions of color fall away, asking us to look closer, to feel more deeply. Each frame becomes an exercise in perception, a meditation on how contrast and composition can stir emotion and reveal meaning.

Black and white photography is both timeless and transformative. It can be stark and dramatic, confronting us with bold contrasts that echo strength and intensity. It can also be soft and poetic, unfolding gently like memory or dream. In every case, monochrome imagery reminds us that simplicity does not mean absence; rather, it is a distillation of depth.

This exhibition embraces the full spectrum of monochrome expression. We welcome traditional darkroom prints steeped in craft, digital black and white photography shaped by modern tools, toned works and alternative processes that expand the palette, and experimental approaches that push the medium into new territory. Subject matter is entirely open—whether it is the sweep of a landscape, the intimacy of a portrait, the abstraction of form, or the narrative of documentary work. What matters most is the commitment to a monochrome vision and the ability to speak through its unique power.
