Welcome to the sixth Close-up Photographer of the Year (CUPOTY), in partnership with Affinity Photo!
Do you capture the details that most people overlook or rarely notice? Do you spend hours lying on the ground to get the perfect shot of a beetle or a wild orchid? Close-up Photographer of the Year, in partnership with Affinity Photo, is an annual competition celebrating the hidden wonders of the world through close-up, macro, and micro photography.

With 10 categories to choose from, plus a special Young category for photographers under 18, there's a place for everyone's unique vision.
Winning isn’t everything, though. Our celebrated shortlist galleries feature hundreds of photographers, offering a snapshot of the current trends in close-up photography. Each photographer’s unique perspective and creative approach in the gallery will help viewers see the world with fresh eyes.
The Top 100 images, selected by our expert jury, will be showcased in the winner’s gallery as a permanent exhibition on our website. These images will reach millions worldwide through newspapers, magazines, websites, and social media.
We hope these photographs will inspire a greater appreciation of nature, foster a deeper connection to often-overlooked animals, plants, and landscapes, and spark a desire to protect them.
The competition closes on Sunday, July 14th, 2024. It only takes 2 minutes to enter, and you can submit your pictures later, with a final deadline of July 21st.
