In March 2026, Fondazione Capri officially launched an open call inviting photographers from around the world to respond to the theme VIAGGI E MIRAGGI. The initiative is open to both professional photographers and amateurs, encouraging a wide range of perspectives and creative interpretations.
The concept for the 2026 edition is rooted in the 200-year anniversary of the rediscovery of the Blue Grotto, an iconic and historically significant site whose origins date back to the time of Emperor Tiberius. This milestone provides a conceptual framework centered on rediscovery and the enduring connection between humans and the sea.
Participants are invited to explore the idea of travel in its broadest sense—encompassing both physical journeys and imagined experiences. Within this context, photography is positioned as a medium capable of bridging realities, offering access to distant, unseen, or only partially perceived worlds.
Each submitted image is seen as a threshold that leads to an “elsewhere,” challenging viewers’ assumptions and expanding their understanding. At the same time, the notion of return is equally important, emphasizing the cyclical nature of travel. The interplay between departure and arrival ultimately defines the deeper significance of the photographic work.
