In March 2026, Fondazione Capri opened its call to photographers everywhere, inviting both professionals and enthusiasts to interpret the theme VIAGGI E MIRAGGI. This initiative is an invitation to dream, to explore, and to reflect on the many ways we experience journeys—both in the real world and within our imagination.
The inspiration comes from a powerful historical moment: two centuries since the rediscovery of the Blue Grotto, a place filled with mystery and legend dating back to Emperor Tiberius. This sense of rediscovery becomes a metaphor, encouraging photographers to uncover new meanings and perspectives through their work.
The sea plays a central symbolic role, representing both freedom and uncertainty, departure and return. Through photography, participants are invited to transform images into gateways—portals that transport us to faraway places, hidden realities, or fleeting visions that linger just beyond our grasp.
Every photograph becomes an “elsewhere,” a space that both attracts and unsettles, inviting us to question what we see and what we think we know. Yet, no matter how far we travel, there is always a return—a moment of reflection and transformation. It is in this delicate balance between leaving and coming back that the true emotional depth of the image is revealed.
