In March 2026, Fondazione Capri issued an open call across its official platforms, inviting photographers—regardless of experience level—to participate in a visual exploration of the theme VIAGGI E MIRAGGI. The call welcomes both professionals and amateurs, united by a shared curiosity for storytelling through images.

This year’s theme is inspired by the 200th anniversary of the rediscovery of the Blue Grotto, a place long surrounded by myth and fascination, with origins tracing back to the time of Emperor Tiberius. This historical reference becomes a lens through which participants are encouraged to reinterpret the idea of discovery in a contemporary context.

At its core, the theme centers on the relationship between humans and the sea—a symbol of both physical journeys and inner voyages. Photography is envisioned as a portal, a transitional space through which we can access distant horizons, imagined realities, or moments that feel just out of reach.

Each photograph acts as a doorway into another dimension, an “elsewhere” that captivates and disorients the viewer. It questions perception and invites exploration beyond the visible. Yet, embedded in every journey is the inevitability of return. It is within this constant motion—between leaving and coming back—that the true essence of the image emerges.
