In March 2026, Fondazione Capri launched an open call through its official channels, inviting photographers from around the world—both professionals and passionate amateurs—to engage with the evocative theme VIAGGI E MIRAGGI (Journeys and Mirages). This edition draws inspiration from a remarkable anniversary: two hundred years since the rediscovery of the Blue Grotto, a place steeped in mystery and wonder, whose legend stretches back to the time of Emperor Tiberius.
Building on this sense of rediscovery, the 2026 call explores the symbolic and enduring relationship between humanity and the sea. It becomes an invitation to embark on journeys that are both physical and imagined, where photography serves as a gateway into unknown dimensions. Each image has the power to transport us—toward distant lands, hidden realities, or fleeting visions that exist somewhere between memory and imagination.
In this context, every photograph becomes a threshold, an opening into an “elsewhere” that both fascinates and unsettles. It challenges our perceptions and invites us to reconsider what we think we understand. Yet every journey, no matter how far it takes us, also contains the promise of return. It is within this continuous rhythm—between departure and arrival—that photography reveals its deepest and most profound meaning.
