For the twenty-sixth year, Canon is offering the Canon Women Photojournalist Grant to recognize and support the work of a professional female photojournalist. This long-standing initiative highlights the important role women play in documenting events, telling stories, and bringing global issues to public attention through photography.
The grant is awarded each year in Perpignan during the Visa pour l’Image – Perpignan International Photojournalism Festival, one of the leading events dedicated to photojournalism. Funded by Canon, the award includes €8,000 in financial support, which is intended to help the selected photographer develop a new or ongoing photojournalism project.
The opportunity is open to professional female photojournalists from any country, with no age restrictions. Applications are reviewed by a jury made up of professionals from both photography and journalism. The selection is based on several key factors, including the quality of the images, the strength of the journalistic approach, and the relevance and importance of the proposed project.
The winner is chosen in June, receiving not only financial support but also international recognition within the photojournalism community.
