For the twenty-sixth consecutive year, Canon reaffirms its commitment to supporting women in visual storytelling through the Canon Women Photojournalist Grant. This prestigious award recognizes the significant contributions of female photojournalists working at the forefront of contemporary reportage, highlighting both their creative excellence and their role in documenting critical global narratives.
The grant is presented annually in Perpignan during the internationally renowned Visa pour l’Image – Perpignan International Photojournalism Festival. Funded by Canon, the award includes financial support of €8,000, specifically intended to assist the recipient in developing or completing a photojournalism project. By providing this funding, the program seeks to encourage in-depth, independent work that might otherwise face financial or logistical challenges.
Open to professional female photojournalists from around the world, the grant imposes no restrictions on age or nationality, reflecting its global scope and inclusive mission. The selection process is conducted by a distinguished jury composed of experts from both photography and journalism. Each year, submissions are carefully evaluated based on the quality of the photographic work, the strength and integrity of the journalistic approach, and the relevance and urgency of the proposed subject matter.
The recipient is announced in June, marking a significant moment of recognition and support within the international photojournalism community.
