This prestigious accolade is a collaborative venture with the Photographischesammlung/SK Stiftung Kultur, Cologne.

Central to the award's ethos is the encouragement of innovative contemporary artistic approaches within the realm of objective-conceptual photography. Building on the foundation of August Sander's iconic portrait photographs, the entrants are called upon to center their photographic works around the profound theme of human portraits. Given every two years, the prize not only honors the legacy of August Sander but also propels the exploration of new dimensions in the art of portraiture.
