Established in 2016, the Bob and Diane Fund supports visual storytelling that documents Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.
This annual grant supports the completion, publication, exhibition and/or screening of photography with funding in the amount of $5,000 USD. The grantee will be announced in mid-November during National Caregiver’s Month.
Gina Martin founded this nonprofit in honor of her parents Bob and Diane Martin—high school sweethearts married 49 years. Diane died of Alzheimer’s in 2011 and Bob, her loyal caregiver, died 3 months later.

The Bob and Diane Fund is inviting submissions from visual storytellers focused on narratives surrounding Alzheimer's Disease or dementia.
Who Should Apply? Photographers specializing in still photography are eligible to apply. Past grant recipients are encouraged to reapply for the 2023 grant cycle, with the recommendation to refresh their submissions.
What Are We Seeking? We are interested in projects that require support for their completion, publication, or exhibition. These projects may encompass personal stories of loss or narratives that emphasize the pressing nature of the Alzheimer's and/or dementia healthcare crisis.
Where Do These Stories Originate? These stories can emerge from any corner of the globe. Alzheimer's Disease and dementia impact an estimated forty-four million people worldwide, though they are most prevalent in Western Europe and North America. It's worth noting that one-third of Americans aged 85 or older are affected by these conditions.

File Submission Guidelines:
Provide a 250-500 word essay in English describing your project, elucidating why this work holds significance for you, and detailing how the grant will assist in its completion. Rename the file using your initials and "Proposal" (e.g., GMM_Proposal).
Submit 15-25 images in black/white or color. Name each image file using your initials followed by a sequential number (e.g., GMM_01, GMM_02).
Ensure that image files are in the following format: 72dpi, RGB, with a length of 3000 pixels on the longer side. Use JPEG format and caption each image (please omit the photographer's name from the captions).
Bio and CV Submission: Submit your bio and/or curriculum vitae (CV) in English as a PDF file, not exceeding two pages. Include essential information such as your name, email address, location, and phone number. Rename the PDF file using your initials followed by "Bio" (e.g., GMM_Bio).
Submission Process: Compile your essay, images, and bio into a ZIP file named with your initials. Upload the ZIP file to the designated Dropbox folder.
