Black Box Gallery announces a juried group exhibition focused on the expansive field of contemporary color photography. This exhibition seeks to examine how photographers engage with color not merely as a descriptive element, but as a conceptual and aesthetic force within their work.
Across today’s photographic landscape, color functions as a critical tool for visual expression. It shapes perception, directs attention, and contributes to the emotional and symbolic dimensions of an image. Photographers employ color across numerous genres, including landscape, portraiture, architectural studies, fashion photography, street documentation, abstraction, still life, narrative projects, conceptual explorations, nature imagery, and nocturnal scenes.
Through this exhibition, we invite artists to consider the many roles color plays in their creative process. How does color inform artistic decision-making, influence composition, and enhance visual storytelling? In what ways can color be used to captivate audiences, communicate ideas, and expand the possibilities of contemporary photographic practice?
