Black Box Gallery invites photographers from around the world to submit work for a juried group exhibition focused on the themes of Trees and Water. This exhibition will celebrate the remarkable diversity of contemporary photography while examining two of the most visually compelling and universally significant subjects found in nature.
Trees and water are fundamental elements of our environment, yet they continue to inspire new interpretations and fresh artistic discoveries. Water exists in countless forms and settings: oceans, rivers, lakes, ponds, streams, waterfalls, fountains, swimming pools, rainfall, fog, mist, ice, snow, and surf. Its reflective qualities, movement, depth, and transformative nature create endless possibilities for visual storytelling and creative exploration.
Trees are equally powerful photographic subjects. They can provide structure, balance, scale, texture, and atmosphere within an image. A solitary tree standing against an open sky can evoke feelings of isolation and resilience, while a dense forest can create mystery, complexity, and wonder. Through changing seasons and shifting light, trees reveal stories of growth, decay, renewal, and the passage of time.
This exhibition seeks to feature a broad range of photographic approaches, including landscape, fine art, documentary, conceptual, experimental, and abstract work. We are interested in seeing how photographers engage with these subjects both aesthetically and emotionally, using them as vehicles for personal expression, environmental reflection, or visual innovation.
