Black Box Gallery proudly announces a juried group exhibition centered on the theme of shadow and light. Photography serves as a medium to explore the contrast between darkness and illumination, where shadows define shapes, add depth, and enhance the visual quality of light. From dramatic black-and-white compositions to evocative and textured color photographs, the exhibition seeks to highlight diverse contemporary approaches to this timeless theme.

Juror: Todd Johnson

Todd Johnson, founder and director of Black Box Gallery, earned his MFA in Photography from the San Francisco Art Institute. A seasoned photography portfolio reviewer, Todd has collaborated with institutions such as Photolucida, Critical Mass, Dodho Magazine, and Blue Sky Gallery. His curatorial expertise extends to exhibitions at Linfield College, Gallery Homeland, and beyond.

An accomplished photographer, Todd’s work has been showcased throughout Portland, OR, in venues like The University of Oregon and Marylhurst University. His national exhibitions include notable galleries such as Bushwick Open Studios and The Diego Rivera Gallery, reflecting his enduring impact on the art world.
