Black Box Gallery is thrilled to announce a juried group photography exhibition centered around the theme Shadow and Light. This show will highlight the essential role that light and darkness play in photography. From the earliest days of the medium to today’s contemporary digital practices, the interaction of light and shadow has been at the very heart of how we make and understand photographs.

Shadows help define form, create contrast, and add depth to an image. They can bring out emotion, suggest movement, and reveal subtle textures. In black and white photography, strong shadows often provide dramatic structure and visual tension. In color photography, they may be used to build mood, enhance atmosphere, or draw the viewer into a quiet, introspective moment.

We are looking for photographers who creatively engage with this theme in any style or genre.
