Black Box Gallery invites photographers from around the world to participate in an upcoming juried group exhibition celebrating the creative impact of color photography. Color is far more than a visual element—it shapes perception, establishes mood, directs attention, and adds depth to photographic storytelling. This exhibition explores the many ways contemporary photographers use color as an essential part of their artistic vision.

Submissions are welcomed from all photographic genres, including portraiture, landscape, architecture, street photography, fashion, documentary, still life, abstract, conceptual, narrative, nature, and night photography. Whether your images feature rich, saturated hues, delicate tonal harmonies, or unexpected color relationships, the gallery is looking for photographs that demonstrate originality, technical excellence, and a distinctive visual voice.

Black Box Gallery encourages artists to consider how color influences the emotional and conceptual impact of an image. Through careful composition, lighting, post-processing, or naturally occurring scenes, photographers continually discover new ways to use color to captivate audiences and communicate ideas. The exhibition aims to present a diverse selection of contemporary work that highlights the limitless possibilities of photographic color.

Juror: Todd Johnson

The exhibition will be curated by Todd Johnson, founder and director of Black Box Gallery. Johnson holds a Master of Fine Arts in Photography from the San Francisco Art Institute and has built an extensive career spanning more than two decades in photography, exhibition programming, arts administration, and education.

In addition to directing Black Box Gallery, he has participated as a portfolio reviewer for Photolucida, Critical Mass, Dodho Magazine, and Blue Sky Gallery, helping photographers develop and present their work. His curatorial experience includes exhibitions at numerous colleges, galleries, and independent art spaces across the United States.

As a photographer, Johnson has exhibited widely throughout Oregon and nationally, with exhibitions in New York, Washington, Illinois, Minnesota, California, and beyond. His combined experience as an artist, curator, educator, and reviewer brings valuable insight to the jurying process.
