Bergger - Analog Photography Prize 2025

The Bergger Analog Photography Prize is dedicated to supporting emerging photographers who use black and white analog photography as their primary medium of artistic expression. Designed as a platform for innovation and recognition, the prize seeks to inspire new approaches to photographic storytelling through the timeless language of black and white imagery.

The competition awards 5,500€ in exhibition production to the Grand Prize Winner, while all shortlisted artists receive a 100€ voucher to be used on the Bergger website.

Grand Prize:

  • A one-year exhibition at the prestigious Pavillon des Lettres, a literary hotel in central Paris, as part of a dedicated residency.

  • Vernissage scheduled for Thursday, October 30th, 6pm.

  • A full series of 25 works printed in the darkroom by Fred Goyeau, renowned master printer for Sebastião Salgado and Sophie Calle, on Bergger baryta paper of the winner’s choice.

  • A three-day darkroom printing workshop at Fred’s Lab, valued at 1,500€, reinforcing the importance of analog craftsmanship in exhibition preparation. The winner must be available to attend between October 15th–28th.

  • Travel support of up to 400€ and one-night accommodation at the Pavillon des Lettres.

Beyond material support, the winner benefits from:

  • Promotion and communication across Bergger’s and partners’ networks.

  • Increased visibility through a distinguished jury of experts in photography, publishing, and the visual arts.

  • Backing from Bergger, the sole French manufacturer of photographic films, papers, and chemistry, ensuring long-term support for analog photography.
