The MPB Photography Award is open to artists working in representational photography across all mediums, including analogue, digital, and hybrid practices. If your work is fundamentally photographic in nature, you are eligible to apply.
We acknowledge that the distinction between photography and digital art is not always clear-cut. As image-making tools evolve, many works exist somewhere between the two. For the purposes of this award, the key consideration is the degree of digital intervention applied to the original photograph.
Works that undergo significant digital transformation—such as the addition of new backgrounds or visual elements, extensive compositing, digital painting, or major structural changes—are better suited to the Digital Art Award category.
In contrast, images that retain the integrity of the original photograph and are refined through standard post-processing techniques—such as color grading, exposure adjustments, or minor retouching—remain eligible for submission to the Photography Award.
