The BBA One Shot Award Autumn Edition places a simple idea at the centre of its format: one photograph can carry significant artistic impact. Rather than requiring photographers to submit extensive portfolios or developed series, the award focuses on the ability of a single frame to communicate an idea, establish a visual identity, and capture the viewer's attention.
The international open call has been designed to provide photographers with an accessible entry point into the Berlin art scene. Artists are considered on the basis of the submitted image, rather than the size of their existing portfolio, professional background, or previous exhibition history.
During the last week of October, BBA Gallery will present a full-space joint exhibition featuring selected works from the Summer and Autumn editions of the BBA One Shot Award. This creates the possibility for selected Autumn Edition photographers to see their work exhibited in Berlin only a few weeks after submission.
The exhibition will include a shortlist of 20 images, which will be professionally printed and displayed on the gallery walls. BBA Gallery will cover 100% of the production costs associated with these works. A further longlist of 50 images will be displayed digitally on a large screen within the gallery space.
The combined presentation will introduce a diverse selection of photographic work to an international audience of collectors, curators, art professionals, and members of the wider creative community.
