Art Intersection - Call for Work — Light Sensitive 2024

Light Sensitive is an annual celebration that shines a spotlight on the art of handcrafted prints, which are uniquely tied to the rich tradition of light-sensitive creative processes. Our mission is to promote, honor, and reaffirm these time-honored techniques, showcasing the exceptional beauty and craftsmanship that they entail. Each year, we seek out work that embodies creativity and passion, capturing the essence and allure of these traditional processes.

In an era where digital photography and presentation dominate, Light Sensitive stands as a tribute to the enduring charm and artistic depth of historical and traditional printing methods. We believe in the significance of preserving and appreciating these techniques, which offer a tangible connection to the history and evolution of photographic art. Through Light Sensitive, we aim to highlight and celebrate the unique qualities and intricate beauty that these methods bring to the art world.

This year, the Light Sensitive exhibition will be held in the esteemed Gallery 4 at HD South, providing a fitting venue for displaying these extraordinary works of art. The gallery's ambiance and setting enhance the viewer's experience, allowing for an intimate and profound appreciation of the prints on display.

We are deeply honored to announce that Kerik Kouklis, a renowned photographer and esteemed educator in alternative photography processes, will be the juror for the thirteenth Art Intersection Light Sensitive exhibition. Kerik's expertise and dedication to the craft make him an ideal juror, and his discerning eye will ensure that the selected works reflect the highest standards of creativity and technical skill.

Kerik Kouklis brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role, and his contributions to the field of alternative photography are widely recognized. His involvement in the exhibition underscores our commitment to excellence and our dedication to promoting the finest examples of light-sensitive artistry.

Artists who submit their work to Light Sensitive have the unique opportunity to have their creations evaluated by a master in the field, gaining invaluable exposure and recognition. The exhibition not only provides a platform for artists to showcase their talent but also fosters a deeper appreciation for the intricacies and nuances of traditional printing processes among the wider public.

As we prepare for this year's Light Sensitive exhibition, we invite artists and art enthusiasts alike to join us in celebrating the timeless beauty and enduring relevance of handcrafted prints. Together, let us honor the rich heritage of light-sensitive creative processes and inspire a renewed appreciation for these exquisite art forms.
