Applications are currently being accepted for the New York Portfolio Review, a collaborative initiative by The New York Times photo department, Photoville, and the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY.

In its 11th annual edition on April 13 and 14, 2024, the New York Portfolio Review will bring together 140 accomplished photographers with 70 leading photo editors, publishers, and curators. Responding to the demand for accessibility, this year's review will be both in-person and remote. The in-person session is scheduled for Saturday, April 13, in New York, while the virtual session on Sunday, April 14, will be conducted over Zoom. Photographers can choose to apply for either the in-person review or the online review but not both. Once an application is submitted, the chosen day and format cannot be altered.

Open to individuals aged 18 or older, the review emphasizes photojournalism, editorial, and documentary photography, though submissions of all types of work are welcomed.

The application deadline is Wednesday, January 31, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time.

A cornerstone of photographic events in the United States, the review serves as a platform for the photographic community to showcase their work, exchange ideas, collaborate, and enjoy the process. On Sunday, April 7, a series of online workshops and presentations will be available to all participating photographers, covering topics such as collaborating with photo editors, managing a photography business, contract negotiation, photo editing and sequencing, and self-care.

Each in-person participant will receive five private critiques, while photographers attending remotely will receive four private critiques.
