The Aperture Portfolio Prize aims to highlight artists whose work deserves greater recognition and to identify trends in contemporary photography. Aperture's editorial team looks for innovative bodies of work that haven't been widely seen in major publications or exhibition venues when selecting the first prize winner and finalists. Only print subscribers to Aperture Magazine are eligible to win the Aperture Portfolio Prize.
The first-place winner will be featured in Aperture magazine, receive a $1,000 gift card to mpb.com to purchase gear, and attend a New York exhibition. Each of the four finalists and the winner will be featured on aperture.org and shared on Aperture's social media platforms. In Aperture's e-newsletter, which reaches subscribers worldwide, including photographers, critics, and curators, all finalists are announced. The Aperture limited-edition print program may also be available to the winner and shortlist.
A virtual portfolio review session with an Aperture editor will also be provided to all twenty-five finalists, which includes the winner, four runners-up, and twenty finalists. Artists will be able to receive thoughtful and constructive feedback on their work during these one-on-one sessions.
