Allora Gallery - “Stone & Stories” Photography Contest and Exhibition

Allora Gallery invites photographers from across the globe to participate in our international photography competition, “Stone & Stories.” This open call welcomes both architectural and street photography, encouraging artists to explore the built environment and the human presence that animates it.

Cities are constructed from stone, steel, and glass, yet they are defined by far more than their materials. They live through the stories etched into their walls and unfolding in their streets. Every building carries traces of the past within its surfaces, every corner of a city bears witness to countless encounters, and every architectural detail reflects the hands, intentions, and lives that shaped it. In this competition, we celebrate the ongoing dialogue between structure and story—where architecture serves as both backdrop and protagonist, and the street becomes a living narrative of human experience.

How do you reveal the character worn into weathered facades? What stories emerge in the spaces between buildings, in the pauses, shadows, and intersections? Can your photographs capture the tension between the permanence of architecture and the fleeting moments of life that pass through it?

We welcome submissions ranging from architectural photography to street photography, as well as any work that thoughtfully engages with the built environment. From historic structures to contemporary design, from monumental forms to intimate details, and from quiet moments to dynamic urban scenes—this competition seeks images that reveal how cities are shaped by both stone and story.
