Show us how the world can be transformed through the language of shape, light, texture, and shadow.
Shape is one of the most fundamental elements of photographic composition. It has the power to simplify complex scenes, reveal hidden patterns, and transform ordinary subjects into compelling works of visual art. Whether geometric or organic, symmetrical or irregular, positive or negative, shapes help define how we perceive and experience an image. They guide the viewer's eye, create balance and tension, and often communicate meaning without the need for words.
For this call, we invite photographers to explore the expressive potential of shape in all its forms. We are looking for images where shape is not merely a supporting compositional element, but the central subject itself. Through the careful use of light, contrast, texture, and perspective, photographers can uncover unexpected visual relationships and create images that challenge the way we see the world around us.
We welcome submissions from every photographic genre. Whether your work is rooted in architecture, portraiture, landscape, street photography, fine art, nude studies, still life, or experimental practices, we encourage you to present a unique and personal interpretation of the theme. We are interested in projects that reveal both the beauty and complexity of shape as a visual force.
Photographers from around the world are invited to submit a cohesive body of work that demonstrates a clear artistic vision. Rather than individual images, we seek carefully curated portfolios in which the photographs work together to create a unified visual narrative. Selected projects will be featured in AAP Magazine, showcasing outstanding contemporary photography that explores shape as both subject and concept.
Please note that only complete and coherent series will be considered. Images that have previously appeared in AAP Magazine are not eligible for resubmission.
